Buffalo, New York is the state's second-largest city, after New York City, of course. Named the third cleanest city in America in 2005, it is also widely known as one of America’s friendliest cities. Buffalo is located on the eastern end of Lake Erie, opposite the mouth of the Niagara River, which flows north over Niagara Falls and empties into Lake Ontario. There’s also Burchfield-Penney Art Center, Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, and numerous galleries and studios. Live performances at Shea’s Performing Arts Center’s old-style theater is another wise choice for entertainment.
